Matt Gosselin Named Assistant Coach for XC and Track & Field

PHILADELPHIA – The James P. Tuppeny/Betty J. Costanza Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Steve Dolan announced the hiring of Matt Gosselin as a new assistant coach, specializing in distance.

Gosselin returns to Penn – where he spent two years as a volunteer assistant from 2013-2015 – after three seasons as an assistant at La Salle and stops at Binghamton and Gonzaga. While previously with the Quakers, Gosselin helped guide Tommy Awad to Penn's first individual Ivy League cross country title since 1975 in 2014, while totaling eight individual Ivy League championships and four program-record holders in his time in University City. Awad repeated in 2015.

A 2012 graduate of Gonzaga, Gosselin racked up 12 varsity letters as a Bulldog in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field and, when he graduated, resided inside the top 10 in the indoor and outdoor 800m and outdoor 1,500m in program history.

Upon graduation, Gosselin spent time as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater and Saint Martin's before joining the Quakers for two seasons. For the 2015-16 season, Gosselin landed at Binghamton, where he spent a season as an assistant, helping the Bearcats' cross country teams to a pair of third-place finishes in the America East. In his lone year there, athletes in his discipline captured a pair of conference titles and three runner-up finishes.

Following his stint at Binghamton, Gosselin returned to Philadelphia to serve as the assistant coach at La Salle, beginning in 2016-17 the season. In his time with the Explorers, athletes in his discipline accounted for nine Atlantic 10 individual champions.

He graduated in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in human physiology.
