Handley Named First-Team Inside Lacrosse All-American; Penn Has Three Selected

PHILADELPHIA – A trio of University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse players have been selected Inside Lacrosse All-Americans as announced during the conclusion to the opening weekend of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Freshman Sam Handley was named a first-team Inside Lacrosse All-American at midfield, while junior Kyle Gallagher was a third-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse at faceoff specialist and senior Tyler Dunn was an honorable mention Inside Lacrosse All-American selection at midfield.

This marks the third year Inside Lacrosse has presented an All-America list. The teams were selected in a survey of more than 20 people who cover lacrosse regularly and are tasked with honoring the highest performers this spring.

Handley is the first Quaker to earn first-team Inside Lacrosse All-American honors. In the previous two years Inside Lacrosse awarded All-American honors, Connor Keating '18 was the only Quaker to earn the award with third team honors in 2018 following an honorable mention choice in 2017 as a long stick midfielder.

Not only is Handley the first Quaker to earn first-team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse, he is the only freshman in the country among the 13 players selected to the first team in 2019. He is one of only three freshmen in the country among the 63 players voted as All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.
