PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team dropped its third Ivy League match to begin the season. The Quakers fell, 5-2, to Dartmouth to wrap up the Ivy weekend at Hamlin Tennis Center.
How it Happened
Like on Saturday, the Quakers fell in doubles. The No. 1 team of
Edoardo Graziani and
Kyle Mautner and the No. 3 doubles team of
Max Cancilla and
Robert Smithline each fell, 6-3.
In singles,
Kyle Mautner defeated No. 53 Charlie Broom for the second time this season. Mautner came out victorious in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Also winning was
Max Cancilla at No. 4, in three sets. The senior took the first, 7-5, before losing the second 6-4. Cancilla bounced back to control the third set from the beginning to win, 6-0.
Penn fell at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles all in three sets. Graziani, Shatalain, and Zhu each fell, 6-4, in the third while
Jason Hildebrandt the third set tiebreaker in his match, 7-6 (3).
What's Next
The Quakers will play their final home match of the season against Cornell at 1 p.m. on Friday before heading on the road on Sunday to play Columbia.
