CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team led after doubles but fell to Harvard on the road on Saturday, 4-1.
For the ninth straight match, Penn left doubles with a 1-0 lead, this time after Marta Kowalska and Marija Curnic won 7-5 at No. 1 and Ashley Zhu and Carolyn Xie captured the win at No. 3 by the same score. Kowalska and Curnic entered the weekend ranked No. 47 in the country and booked another win.
In singles, however, the Crimson won all four of the matches that finished, securing a come-from-behind victory in Cambridge, Mass.
Of the two unfinished matches, the Quakers led in both. Iuliia Bryzgalova led at No. 1 6-4, 6-5, but couldn't close it out in time to be credited with the win. Zhu also won her first set after battling through a tiebreak.
