PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team lost its first home match of the season on Saturday. The Quakers lost to Harvard at Hamlin Tennis Center, 6-1, in what was a rematch of the ECAC Championship earlier this year in February.
How it Happened
After falling to Princeton on the road last weekend, the Quakers looked to bounce back at home against Harvard - a team they beat earlier this year.
Penn lost the doubles point, falling at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Dmitry Shatalin and
Edoardo Graziani lost, 6-3, while
Aleks Huryn and
Max Cancilla went down, 6-2.Â
In singles,
Kyle Mautner recorded the lone win for the Quakers. Mautner won his second straight three-set match. The senior lost the first set, 5-7, before bouncing back to take the second, 6-4. Mautner won the match in a 10-point supertiebreaker, 12-10.Â
Cancilla fell in a tough three-setter at No. 5. Cancilla split the opening two sets as he won the first, 6-2, and then lost the second, 6-0. The senior came up short, 6-2, in the third.Â
What's Next
The Quakers close out the Ivy League home weekend on Sunday with a match against Dartmouth. Penn defeated the Big Green, 4-3, in the semifinals.Â
