LEONIA, N.J. – Under sunny skies and on flat water with a cross-tailwind, Princeton was able to retain the Childs Cup over Penn and Columbia on Saturday morning. Penn had two Eights compete Saturday at Overpeck Park.
Varsity 8+
Princeton has now won the Childs Cup 10 years in a row after clocking 5:34.49 across the 2,000-meter course. Penn was second in 5:38.9, a little more than four seconds behind the Tigers but nearly three seconds ahead of third-place Columbia (5:41.70). Penn has finished second in this race each of the last six years and seven of the last eight.
Second Varsity 8+
Princeton was able to win this race on Saturday with some ease, clocking 5:40.12 and finishing more than 12 seconds ahead of their counterparts. Columbia was able to hold Penn off for second place in 5:52.42, ahead of the Quakers' 5:54.20.
