#9 Women's Lacrosse Ready for Saturday Senior Day vs. Dartmouth

PHILADELPHIA - Atop the Ivy League standings three games in, the ninth-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team will begin its final two-game home swing of the regular season on Saturday, April 13, hosting No. 24 Dartmouth at 12 p.m. Saturday's game will serve as Senior Day, as the Quakers will honor Chrissy Corcoran, Katy Junior, Julia O'Mara and Lauren O'Mara following the conclusion of the contest.

Series History
Penn and Dartmouth have faced off 43 times in program history, with the Big Green holding a slim 23-20 advantage in the all-time series. Penn has won three straight, and seven of the last eight against Dartmouth, and have not lost at home against the Big Green since 2012. The two teams met twice last year, once in New Hampshire and again in the semifinals of the Ivy League Tournament, with Penn winning by a two-goal advantage each time out.

Midseason All-America
Penn landed two players on Inside Lacrosse's list of Midseason All-Americans, including junior attacker Gabby Rosenzweig and junior goalkeeper Mikaila Cheeseman. Rosenzweig was tabbed as a second-team selection, while Cheeseman checked in on the third-team.

Clutch Quakers
The Quakers have already won five games this year by a single goal, highlighting their ability to make plays in the final seconds when it matters the most. The five one-goal wins are the most for Penn since winning five games by a single goal in 2008, when the Quakers advanced to the NCAA Tournament Championship game. The Red and Blue have leaned on their reliable playmakers in those situations, as Zoe Belodeau recorded the game-winning goal against both #21 Georgetown and #15 Duke, while scoring the game's last two as Penn held on to defeat Cornell, 11-10. Defensively, Katy Junior has stepped up, intercepting a pass to lead to Penn's game-winning score in overtime at #17 Johns Hopkins, while Mikaila Cheeseman stopped a game-tying shot with 10 seconds left to preserve an 8-7 win over the Hoyas. Last time out, against Brown, Gabby Rosenzweig slotted home the game-winner while Penn held the Bears scoreless the final 16-plus minutes of game time, while Cheeseman saved two free position shots in the final minute.

Keepin' It 100
Junior midfielder Erin Barry has eclipsed the 100 mark in both ground balls and draw controls this season. She is the third in the Karin Corbett-era to do so, now owning 117 draw controls and 108 ground balls.

Home Cookin'
The Quakers are a perfect 5-0 at home this season and have not lost a game at Franklin Field since an April 1, 2018 setback to #12 Northwestern.

Lending a Helping Hand
One of Penn's catalysts on offense this season has been through the assist-making prowess of junior Gabby Rosenzweig. The New York native leads the team with 36 assists (the next closest has 10) and ranks third nationally, averaging 3.27 assists per game.

Three Quakers on Tewaaraton Watch List
Erin Barry, Zoe Belodeau and Gabby Rosenzweig all saw their names on the first Tewaaraton Watch List of the year, highlighting the nation's best players in college lacrosse. Rosenzweig, one of the final 25 Tewaaraton Award nominees last year, currently leads the team offensively with 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points. Belodeau ranks second on the team in points on the season with 38, while Barry is third with 20 and ranks second with 23 ground balls.

RPI Watch
The NCAA released its first edition of the RPI this week, and the Quakers checked in at No. 7 in the nation. Dartmouth ranks 17th.

A Tradition of Success
Penn has won 11 of the last 12 Ivy League championships, including three conference tournament titles, and have advanced to 12-straight NCAA Tournaments, the fifth-longest active streak in the country.

Aye, Aye Captain(s)!
Senior defenders Katy Junior and Lauren O'Mara have been tabbed as captains for the 2019 campaign of Penn women's lacrosse.

Dissecting Dartmouth
Entering the weekend at No. 24 in the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll, Dartmouth is 7-4 on the season and tied for second in the Ivy League at 3-1 in conference play. All four of the Big Green's losses this season are to teams currently ranked in the top-25, including a 14-12 setback to No. 15 Princeton last weekend. Senior Kathryn Giroux ranks third nationally, averaging 9.45 draw controls per game, as Dartmouth boasts a powerful offense, ranking fifth in the country in draw control percentage, leading to over 15 goals per game. Dartmouth features four players with over 20 goals on the year, led by 35 from Kierra Sweeney. In goal, Kiera Vrindten has played the bulk of the minutes with a 0.379 save percentage.
