Women's Basketball Holds Final Home Weekend vs. Harvard, Dartmouth

PHILADELPHIA - One last go around on the home court.

The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team will lace it up one final time inside The Palestra this season, hosting Harvard and Dartmouth in its penultimate Ivy League back-to-back weekend, with much still at stake. Tipoff against the Crimson is Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m., while the Quakers will battle the Big Green on Saturday at 6 p.m., following a Senior Night ceremony.

In the Series vs. Harvard: 84th Meeting
Penn has been strong of late against the Crimson, but Harvard maintains a 51-32 lead in the all-time series over the Quakers. The Quakers have won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the two schools, with a loss coming both last year and this season in Cambridge. Harvard has not beaten Penn inside The Palestra since 2012.

In the Series vs. Dartmouth: 81st Meeting
Despite a dominant surge from the Quakers in the past decade, the Big Green still hold a slim advantage in the all-time series between the two schools, at 43-37. Penn has won nine straight against Dartmouth and 15 of the last 16, including a 60-44 win earlier this season. Coach McLaughlin holds a 16-3 record against the Big Green, and Penn has not last at home to Dartmouth since 2010.

Catching the Games: ESPN+, NBC Sports Philadelphia and ESPN3
Friday's game can be watched regionally on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus, as well as on ESPN+, as the Ivy League's partnership with ESPN. Saturday's game has been tabbed as the Ivy League Game of the Week, and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3. In-game Twitter updates and video can be found at @PennWBB. A complete recap, box score and highlights can be found on PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the games.

Last Time Out: L, 53-68 vs. Princeton (Feb. 26, 2019)
   -   The Quakers came up short in a battle between the Ivy League's top teams on Tuesday.
   -   Despite coming back from deficits all night, a late surge from Princeton, including 33 points from Bella Alarie, was too much for the Quakers to overcome, despite three scorers in double figures.

Scouting the Crimson
Harvard enters the weekend on a three-game win streak and in third place in the conference standings, at 7-3 in the Ivy League. The Crimson boast a lethal 3-point attack, averaging over nine made shots from distance per game. Junior Katie Benzan leads the way on offense, making nearly four 3-pointers each game.

Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth has battled back to put itself into playoff contention, entering the weekend at 5-5 in the Ivy League and tied with Yale for fourth place. Dartmouth ranks third in the league in scoring defense, allowing just over 59 points per game, while Isalys Quinones and Cy Lippold head the charge on offense, both averaging over 10 points a game.

Aghayere Earns Weekly Honors
Senior Princess Aghayere featured a career weekend against Columbia and Cornell for the Quakers and was named both Ivy League and Big 5 Player of the Week for her efforts. She averaged 21 points in the two games, including a career-high 21 against the Big Red, shooting over 60 percent from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point land.

National honors came in on Wednesday for Aghayere, as she was named to the NCAA Starting Five, honoring five of the top performers from the week in the country.

Princess Primed for Success
Transitioning into a starting role for the first time in her career, Princess Aghayere has stepped up her production for the Quakers, already with more points scored this season than any of her other three years with the Red and Blue. She ranks second on the team with 11.9 points per game, and third with 6.6 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in 11 straight games and boasts four double-doubles this year.

Not Your Typical Guard
Senior captain Ashley Russell has been known for her tenacity on the court throughout her time with the Quakers, but as the veteran starter on the court for Penn, she has ratcheted up the intensity even more this season. She ranks second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.7 boards per game, despite only measuring 5-10. Russell has collected a career-high 12 rebounds twice this season, including in Ivy play at Harvard.

Russell has been named Big 5 Player of the Week twice this year and has scored in double figures 13 times. Additionally, she leads the team in both assists (104) and steals (47), and ranks first in the Ivy League with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.5.

Grasela Shines Under Bright Lights
After averaging five minutes per game her first two seasons, Kendall Grasela was inserted as Penn's starting point guard this year, now averaging nearly 25 minutes a game. She's handled the job averaging nearly points a game and ranks second in the Ivy League with a 2.2 assist/turnover ratio, and seventh in assists, dishing nearly four each time out. She's made nine 3-pointers this year and posted a career-high 11 points, all in the first half, in Penn's midweek game against Princeton.

Brick Wall
Opponents have faced a tough task when going inside to face Parker, as the sophomore ranks second nationally, averaging 3.3 blocks per game. Her 76 blocks so far this season individually would rank her over 137 TEAMS in block totals and are fifth-most in a season in program history.

Ivy League Success
Last season marked the fifth-straight year that Penn won 11 or more Ivy League games. Prior to that, Penn had won 11 or more Ivy League games only twice in its entire history.

What's Next?
The Quakers will wrap up the regular season next weekend, visiting Yale and Brown.
