PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's men's squash team (4-0, 0-0) returns home following a clean sweep of #9 George Washington and #16 Navy by final scores of 9-0 each. The Quakers will welcome in their highest ranked opponent of the season in #6 Rochester (1-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m. and finish 2019 with a battle against #15 St. Lawrence (1-2).
Previewing Penn
The Quakers are on a tremendous run, having recorded three of their four wins this season by a final score of 9-0. Four players (
Saksham Choudhary,
James Flynn,
Dillon Huang and
David Yacobucci) are 4-0 on the season, with the freshman Choudhary still yet to drop a game. As a team, the Quakers dropped four games combined over the two games against George Washington and Navy.
With high expectations, the freshmen class has stepped up in a big way. Combined, they are 13-1 in their individual matches, with Huang playing as high as the #3 spot. If the group continues to succeed, they could lead the Quakers to a victory over the highest ranked regular season opponent since they defeated #5 Dartmouth on February 2, 2018.
With #1 Harvard looming as the first Ivy League match in January, the Quakers can't look too far ahead. While the Ivy League remains the toughest league in college squash, the New York duo of Rochester and St. Lawrence are consistent perennial powerhouses and will provide another stiff test for the Red and Blue.
#3 Penn vs. #6 Rochester – Saturday, 1 p.m.

Rochester joins Penn as one of the top teams in the country and is attempting to return to the Potter Cup for the 12th consecutive season. Their top player from last season, Ashley Davies, returns to action and will likely meet
Andrew Douglas again in a rematch of a five-game thriller that Davies emerged victorious, but the Quakers earned the win last season.

Previewing the Saints
The Saints enter a busy weekend, matching up against #11 Drexel, #4 Princeton and Haverford in addition to the Quakers during this stretch. After an opening victory against Hobart, the Saints have struggled, dropping back-to-back contests against #13 Western Ontario and #14 Cornell. However, their number one player, Karim Ibrahim, is 3-0 and looking to add on more wins to an impressive start to the year.
