Men's Basketball Closes Out 2019 Monday at Howard

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team sees out the 2019 portion of the schedule on Monday night, traveling to our nation's capital to face Howard University for the second time in three years.

The Penn-Howard Series
• The Quakers and the Bison are meeting for the third time all-time, looking to break a 1-1 tie. The road team has won each of the first two meetings.

• In Penn's win two years ago, current senior Ryan Betley had a double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds); AJ Brodeur nearly had a double-double (9 points, 10 rebounds); and Jarrod Simmons finished the night with nine points and eight boards.
 
Penn vs. The MEAC
Penn is 4-2 against programs currently in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, going 3-1 against Delaware State and 1-1 vs. Howard; the four wins have come in the Quakers' four most recent games against the Hornets and Bison.
 
Records Set
Penn set a pair of records last Saturday when it knocked down 17 three-point shots (in 40 attempts) against Widener; the Quakers have hit 16 treys twice against Division 1 teams, Drexel (1/28/2001) and Harvard (2/21/2003).

• The senior enters the Howard game with 34 straight double-figure scoring games against Division 1 competition. Below, a list of the longest double-figure scoring streaks in program history...

• AJ has started all 102 games played during his career; his streak of starts is currently tied for ninth-longest at the NCAA Division 1 level.

• AJ is on the cusp of becoming the first player in Ivy League history to reach all of the following five milestones...

1 • Among the program's 1,796 all-time wins, the number that have taken place on an SEC opponent's home court; that happened in the season opener, when Penn won at Alabama 81-80.
 
1.94 • Penn's assist/turnover ratio in its last three Division 1 games: Arizona, Long Beach State and Villanova (68/35); the Quakers' overall assist/turnover ratio (1.20) is best among Ivy League teams.
