The Penn-Providence Series
• The Quakers and the Friars are meeting for the 10th time, with Providence holding a 6-3 lead in the series and a current four-game win streak.

• This is the first meeting in a little more than 15 years; Providence rolled the Quakers on November 18, 2004 by an 89-52 score.

• The last five meetings between these teams have all taken place in Providence.

• The pinnacle of this series was 1972-74, when the teams met three straight years in the NCAA Tournament. Penn won the 1972 game, 76-60 in Jamaica, N.Y., with the Friars winning in 1973 (87-65 in Charlotte) and 1974 (84-69 in Jamaica).

• Penn has hosted Providence at The Palestra just once; that was the very first meeting, a 61-48 Quakers win on December 28, 1967.

Penn vs. The Big East
• Penn is 33-65 all-time against current Big East programs.

• The Quakers' most recent win against a Big East, team, of course, came last year when they knocked off then-No. 17 Villanova at The Palestra, 78-75. The win snapped the Wildcats' 25-game win streak in Philadelphia Big 5 play and was the impetus to Penn winning the city series for the first time since 2001-02; Penn will face Villanova in 11 days, traveling to the Main Line on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

• The last time Penn player a Big East team other than Villanova was January 2, 2013 when the Quakers went to the famed Hinkle Fieldhouse and fell to Butler, 70-57.

A Bit About AJ Brodeur
• The senior enters Saturday's game with 29 straight double-figure scoring games, the fifth-longest streak in program history...
  Ernie Beck, 74 from 1951-53
  Stan Pawlak, 60 from 1964-66
  Ron Haigler, 41 from 1974-75
  Keven McDonald, 38 from 1977-78
  AJ Brodeur, 29 in 2019
  Jeff Neuman, 25 in 1966

• AJ has started all 96 games Penn has played during his career; his streak of starts is currently the 10th-longest in the NCAA Division 1 level.

• AJ is 12th on Penn's all-time scoring list with 1,438 points; Bruce Lefkowitz is 11th with 1,443 points from 1984-87; while Tyler Bernardini is 10th with 1,456 points from 2008-12.

Penn by the Numbers
1 • Among the program's 1,792 all-time wins, the number that have taken place on an SEC opponent's home court; that happened in the season opener, when Penn won at Alabama 81-80.

2:23 • Amount of time it took freshman Max Martz to score the first seven points of his collegiate career Tuesday at Lafayette; he ended the night with 10 points, all in the first half.

3 • All-Ivy players who return to Penn's lineup in 2019-20: senior captains AJ Brodeur, (two-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy), Ryan Betley (second-team All-Ivy in 2017-18), and Devon Goodman (second-team in 2018-19).

4 • Three-point baskets scored by Betley last Wednesday vs. La Salle, high for a Penn player this season.

5 • Turnovers committed by Lafayette in Penn's 86-75 loss to the Leopards on Tuesday, one shy of the opponent low in the Steve Donahue coaching era.

7.5 • Seconds left when freshman Jordan Dingle hit a shot in the lane to give Penn its winning points at Alabama.

8.3 • Brodeur's rebounds-per-game average last season, best since Tim Krug averaged 8.9 in 1995-96. He is averaging 10.3 boards through the first four games of the 2019-20 season.

10 • Penn players who have recorded at least one double-figure scoring game during their career; that includes six players with at least one game of 20 or more points and four with double-doubles (Brodeur, Betley, Eddie Scott, Bryce Washington).

10 • The number of NCAA Division 1 players who finished the 2018-19 season with at least 500 points, 250 rebounds and 100 assists. That list included guys like R.J. Barrett (Duke), Grant Williams (Tennessee) and Ethan Happ (Wisconsin). It also included Brodeur, who led Penn with 547 points, 257 rebounds and 113 assists.

10.1 • Points-per-game improvement by Goodman from 2017-18 (3.8 ppg) to last year (13.9); he was one of just five players nationally at Division 1 to make the double-digit jump in ppg.

18 • Assists by Brodeur this season, nearly triple the next Penn player (Goodman has 7).

22 • Career double-doubles for Brodeur after he had 14 points and 10 rebounds at Lafayette; he has three double-doubles through four games this season.

24 • Points scored by Dingle at Alabama, most ever by a Penn freshman in his collegiate debut; he followed that up with 20 points at Rice.

43 • Overall wins by Penn during the previous two seasons, 24 in 2017-18 and 19 in 2018-19; that is the most since the Quakers had 47 wins across the 2001-02 (25) and 2002-03 (22) seasons.

53 • Steals by Goodman last year; his 1.7 thefts per game led all Ivy League players. Goodman also tied for the league lead in overall minutes played per game, at 35.5.

573 • Three-pointers made by Penn the last two years (291 in 2017-18, 282 last year); the Quakers led the Ivy League with 9.1 treys per game last season.
