Men's Soccer Ventures to Brown Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Fueled by the momentum of two-straight overtime victories, the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team looks to continue its success in another Ivy League matchup, facing Brown on Saturday, Nov. 2. Kickoff in Providence is set for 3:30 p.m.

Despite the Quakers walking away with wins in two of the last three matches against the Bears, Brown owns a slight 33-25-8 advantage in the all-time series. Each of the last three meetings have gone into overtime between Penn and Brown, including last season's double OT thriller on Rhodes Field, where Jake Kohlbrenner netted the game-winning goal for the Red and Blue. Penn is seeking its victory in Providence since a 1-0 decision over the 20th-ranked Bears in 2009.

The Quakers are among three Ivy League teams in the top-80 of the national RPI, checking in at 78th.

Weekly Awards
Penn notched a clean sweep in weekly awards from the Ivy League following its 2-0 week of play, as Brandon Bartel earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors, and Jack Rosener landed Rookie of the Week accolades from both the conference and the Philadelphia Soccer Six.

PENNalty Kick Success
The Quakers are a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season, both coming from the foot of Brandon Bartel in Ivy League play. Bartel scored Penn's second goal in a 3-2 win over Cornell, and also netted the game-winner in double overtime over 24th-ranked Yale.

Defensive Consistency
The Quakers rank second in the Ivy League with 12 goals allowed in 13 games this season. Penn's five shutouts on the season are tops in the Ivy League, with sophomore netminder Dane Jacomen boasting four to his name and freshman Nick Christoffersen recording one. The Quakers' backline of RC Williams, Alex Touche, Casey Barone and Kai Lammers have each played over 1,000 minutes of 1,230 possible ticks this season, including Touche and Barone not once leaving the field. 

Bhangdia's Boot
Joey Bhangdia ranks second in the Ivy League with six goals this season, while tied for first with three game-winning scores. He leads Penn with 12 points, followed by six from Bartel who has two goals and two assists. 

Good Times in Overtime
Penn won back-to-back games in overtime last week for the first time since 2010. The Quakers are unbeaten in their last five overtime matches, including three victories. 

Scouting the Bears
Brown enters the weekend at 3-8-3 overall, including a 1-1-2 mark in conference play, with five points to its name. The Bears defeated Harvard and lost to Columbia, while tying both Princeton and Cornell in Ivy League action. Brown has scored 12 goals on the year, compared to 17 for its opponents, led by two each from Matthew Chow and Derek Waleffe. Chow leads the team in points, with six, adding two assists to his account. The Bears have used three different keepers in goal this year, with the bulk of the minutes going to James Swomley, sporting a save percentage of 0.816.
