Wrestling Travels To Duke Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – A new year begins for the University of Pennsylvania wrestling program with a trip to Duke and a meeting with the Blue Devils inside Card Gym.

Notes To Know…
  • Penn enters the weekend with a 1-1 record in dual meets. The Quakers are 0-1 on the road, with a 20-18 loss at Rider to open the season.
  • Duke is 1-0 in dual meets, its lone outing a 36-9 win at Gardner-Webb in early December.
  • The Quakers and Blue Devils have not met in a dual meet since 1990 – a 24-16 win for Duke. The two teams have split the two all-time meetings, Penn's win an 18-15 victory in Philly all the way back in 1929. The two teams have never wrestled in Durham.
  • Duke visited The Palestra in November for the Keystone Classic, finishing sixth as a team with four placewinners. The Quakers were third at Keystone with seven placewinners.
  • No. 17 Anthony Artalona is expected to have a rematch from the Keystone Classic against No. 6 Mitch Finesilver. Artalona dropped a 5-2 decision in the championship match at Keystone, one of just two losses in 14 matches for the freshman. Finesilver is 17-3 overall this season, and recently added a second place finish at the Southern Scuffle to his Keystone title and a fifth-place run at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas tournament.
  • Carmen Ferrante is likely to rematch against Duke's Harrison Campbell. At the Keystone Classic, Ferrante picked up a pin at 2:14.
