PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, taking down neighborhood foe Drexel 6-1 to move to 2-0 on the young season.

After sweeping Delaware on Saturday, the Quakers defended Hecht Tennis Center for the second time in five days behind strong performances throughout the lineup. Freshman Iuliia Bryzgalova picked up two more wins, a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 1 singles after pairing up with OJ Singh for a doubles win. Singh also captured her singles match, winning at No. 5, 6-2, 6-3.

The top doubles team of Marta Kowalska and Marija Curnic kept chugging along, working to a 6-3 win before Kowalska earned a singles win at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4. Curnic cruised in the first set at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, but struggled in the second set due to back spasms before eventually retiring. Penn swept the doubles lineup as Ashley Zhu and Mimi Levine captured No. 3 doubles, managing a 6-4 defeat, and the pair also won at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Penn has the weekend off before hosting Marist next Sunday, Feb. 3 at Hecht Tennis Center. Doubles are set to begin at 11 a.m.
