Men's Soccer Wraps Road Swing at Marist

PHILADELPHIA - A four-game road swing for the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team will conclude on Friday, September 21, as the Quakers visit Marist for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

MATCH DAY 6 - Penn (2-1-2) at Marist (1-3-1)
Friday, September 21 | 7 p.m. | Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field | Live Stats | Live Video

Series Information
Penn and Marist have met just once before in program history, as part of the Mayor's Cup hosted by Hartwick in 2006. The Quakers claimed the trophy by virtue of a 4-0 victory over the Red Foxes. Penn is 1-0 against teams from the MAAC this season, having defeated Monmouth in overtime in the season opener.

The Golden (Goal) Connection
Both of Penn's wins have featured a similar component: Brandon Bartel to Alex Touche. The pair has teamed up twice in overtime to deliver a victory for the Quakers, first in the season opener against Monmouth and again at Marquette. Against the Hawks, Bartel delivered a ball to the head of Touche off a free kick just past midfield, while against the Golden Eagles, Bartel connected with the sophomore off a corner kick.

Going the Distance
Five players have played all 503 minutes and change for the Quakers this season. The back four of Alex Touche, Erumuse Momoh, RC Williams and Casey Barone have proven to be a reliable force for Penn's defensive effort, joined by set piece specialist Brandon Bartel, having seen every second of action this season.

Good Times in Overtime
For the first time in program history, the Quakers ventured into overtime in each of their first three matches of the year. Luckily for Penn, the Red and Blue are unbeaten when going into overtime this season, sporting a record of 2-0-2.

Forbes on Lockdown
Senior goalkeeper Scott Forbes is in the midst of his most successful season between the pipes for the Quakers, sporting three shutouts in five games. The New Jersey native was rewarded for his six-save shutout effort at Lehigh in his last outing, earning Philadelphia Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week honors. Forbes' .826 save percentage ranks first in the conference, while his GAA of .715 is third in the Ivy League.

Leading the League
Two weeks into the season, Penn sits near the top of the Ivy League in several categories, including leading the conference with a save percentage of .826 and ranking second in corner kicks with 35 and shots with 68. Individually, Bartel's two assists are second-most in the conference, as are Touche's two game-winning goals. Joey Bhangdia ranks second in the league, averaging 2.6 shots per game, while with two goals overall, Touche also sits second in the category.

Scouting the Red Foxes
Marist enters Friday's match with an overall record of 1-3-1. The Red Foxes have produced their best results against teams ranked in the top-25, posting a 1-0 win at then No. 17 Pacific and earning a 1-1 draw against then No. 12 Fordham. Five different players have combined for all five of Marist's goals this season.
