PHILADELPHIA -- With the first day of preseason camp one week away, the University of Pennsylvania football team will enter camp with 13 players recognized as preseason All-Ivy by Phil Steele's annual FCS Preview Magazine.
Six Quakers were preseason first team selections, led by Phil Steele's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year
Nick Miller. Three Quakers were preseason second team selections, and four earned third team honors.
Joining Miller on the first team were running back
Karekin Brooks, offensive lineman
Tommy Dennis, linebacker
Jay Cammon, Jr., safety
Sam Philippi and kicker
Jack Soslow. All six were All-Ivy honorees at the end of the 2017 season.
Offensive lineman
Greg Begnoche was a second-team All-Ivy pick by Phil Steele, joined by defensive lineman
Cooper Gardner and linebacker
Connor Jangro. Begnoche and Jangro have previously earned All-Ivy honors during their careers.
Jeff Gibbs was a third-team All-Ivy choice by Phil Steele, giving Penn three total offensive lineman among the honorees. Gibbs is joined by wide receiver
Christian Pearson, defensive back
Conor O'Brien, and returner
Isaiah Malcome.
The Quakers have their first official practice on August 18, leading up to the home opener on September 15 against Bucknell at 3 p.m.
