Heavies Finish 14th on a Shortened Final Day at IRA Regatta

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight Varsity 8 took 14th overall at the IRA National Championship regatta, which finished with a truncated schedule on Sunday due to high winds on Mercer Lake.
 
Varsity 8
No. 13 overall seed Penn finished just below its seed with a second-place finish in the Third Final on Sunday. The Quakers covered Mercer's 2,000-meter course in 7:04.459, which was well behind race winner Cornell (6:58.236). Navy was third, less than a second behind the Red and Blue, while Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) was fourth, Saint Joseph's was fifth, and George Washington was sixth.
 
Second Varsity 8
Penn was slated to race in the Third Final on Sunday but the race was cancelled due to the high winds.
 
Varsity 4
Represented by a quartet of lightweight rowers, Penn was slated to race in the Fourth Final on Sunday but the race was cancelled due to the high winds.
