PHILADELPHIA - With the team back on campus, the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball program has its sights set on the 2018-19 season, one that will begin with an 11-day foreign tour overseas in Spain and France and will pit the Quakers up against international competition. Penn departs Philadelphia on Saturday, August 11, first arriving in Madrid for three days, before venturing to Valencia for two, Barcelona for two, and ending in Paris for the final leg of the journey before returning on August 22.
This will mark the program's second trip to Europe in the Coach
Mike McLaughlin-era, as the Quakers previously traveled to Italy prior to the 2014-15 season, visiting Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome.
"One of the main goals I have as a coach is for my players to have a well-rounded experience during the course of their 4 years at Penn," commented Coach McLaughlin. "A trip like this not only allows our players the opportunity to grow as a team on the basketball court, but also gives them a chance to explore different cultures, meet new people, and open their eyes to a world of possibilities. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Grace Calhoun, our Administration, the University, and our dedicated Alumni for affording us this incredible opportunity."
