PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at home to defending Ivy League champion Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon, falling to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in the Ancient Eight.
The Big Green earned the first point of the day, winning on courts one and three in doubles play.
Marta Kowalska and
Marija Curnic did not finish their match on court two.
Singles play also saw Dartmouth gain quick momentum, earning the first set on four of the six courts. Penn then dropped consecutive matches on courts two, one and three, unable to stymie the Big Green, as the visitors clinched the match and the win. Curnic was the lone bright spot on the day for the Red and Blue, as the freshman earned her fifth-straight win on court five, winning in three sets after a tiebreak once the overall result was decided. Curnic is now 5-1 in Ivy League play.
Penn will conclude its season tomorrow, Sunday, April 21, hosting Harvard for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
