ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight rowing team took second place in the Adams Cup race on Saturday on the Severn River.
The Quakers' Varsity 8 clocked 6:06.3 over the Severn River's 2,000-meter course. That was behind Harvard, which retained the Cup with a time of 5:59.7, but more than three seconds ahead of Navy (6:09.4).
Penn's Second Varsity 8 was third in its race, timed in 6:22.2. Harvard won the 2V8 in 6:08.3, while Navy was second in 6:17.5.
Penn will conclude its Cup season next Saturday at Cornell, racing the Big Red for the Madeira Cup in the Varsity 8 race.
