PHILADELPHIA - Jurie Joyner hit her 19th career home run to move into fourth on the program's all-time homer list, but it was not enough as the University of Pennsylvania softball team (12-19, 7-8 Ivy) lost to Saint Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon, 10-6. The Quakers will look to put the loss behind them with a three-game home series against Cornell looming over the weekend.

How it Happened
After a difficult three-game series against Harvard last weekend, Penn looked to get a win back at home against Saint Joseph's and grab some momentum heading into its final Ivy home series against Cornell.
The Quakers went down 1-0 in the second inning, but quickly took the lead. The Red and Blue went up 2-1 with a Pederson single up the middle that brought in
Molly Oretsky and Abramson. The Hawks re-took the lead in the third, scoring four runs. After allowing four runs,
Ciana Curran was replaced by
Tabitha Dyer in the circle and she struck out three of the four batters she faced to end the inning.
Joyner cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the frame, hitting her third home run of the season. The two-run shot over the left field wall, the Quakers found themselves down 5-4 headed into the fourth.
Once again, the Hawks responded, this time with a three-run inning to make it an 8-4 game. Saint Joseph's would add two more before the seventh.
Down 10-4 headed into the bottom of the seventh, the Red and Blue tried to rally.
Lucy Yang,
Hannah Gibbons, and
Alexis Corini loaded the bases, and then Abramson walked for the third time on the day to bring in a run. Oretsky added one more with a sacrifice fly to deep left. With the looks of a small rally in place, however, back-to-back popouts ended the game.
What's Next
The Red and Blue will put this game behind them with a home series against Cornell right around the corner this weekend. Penn will play the Big Red starting with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday Senior Day.
