Women's Tennis Gears Up for Final Road Trip to Brown, Yale

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team hopes to build momentum from its first Ivy League victory into its final road swing of the season, first facing Brown on Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m, before a match at Yale the next day at the same time.

The Quakers are fresh off a 4-3 victory over Cornell at home on Sunday, good for their first Ivy League win of the season. In three matches against competition from the Ancient Eight, Marija Curnic and Marta Kowalska lead the squad with two victories in singles each, including two-straight from the freshman, Curnic. Together, they have partnered in the three spot in doubles and won both of their matches last weekend to help Penn win two-straight doubles points.

Penn is 27-14 all-time vs. Brown, including a narrow 4-2 loss to the Bears earlier this season at the ECAC Championship, a match where Penn won the doubles point and a singles match from Curnic on court five. Prior to this year's earlier meeting, the Quakers had won two-straight over Brown. The Bears enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-10, including a 2-1 mark in Ivy League play with wins over Yale and Dartmouth.

Yale is 6-14 on the year and 0-3 in the Ivy League entering the weekend, entering with two-straight losses by 6-1 scores. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series vs. the Quakers 26-18, but Penn tallied a 5-2 win in Philadelphia last season, its first victory over Yale since 2007.
