PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's lacrosse team will look to keep its Ivy League Tournament hopes alive on Saturday, as the Quakers host Harvard at 3 p.m. in the back end of a lacrosse doubleheader at Franklin Field. The Penn women will kick the day off at noon with Columbia.
Both of Saturday's games will air worldwide on the subscription-based Ivy League Network (ILN), now available on Apple TV, Roku and the ILN app for Android and Apple devices. The men's game also will air for free on ESPN3.
In addition to the doubleheader, Saturday will be Alumni Day for both programs and the men's team will be honoring the 1988 squad which will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its run to the NCAA semifinal round. That team went 11-4 overall, tied Yale for the Ivy League title (both teams going 5-1), and defeated Loyola (Md.) in an NCAA first-round game before falling by a goal to eventual champion Syracuse in the Carrier Dome in a semifinal.
Thank You, Seniors!
Prior to Saturday's game, Penn will honor the eight members of its Class of 2018:
James Farrell,
Reilly Hupfeldt,
Connor Keating,
JJ McBride,
Kevin McGeary,
Chris Santangelo,
Kyle Scheetz, and
Jack Ullrich.
The Series
The Quakers and the Crimson have met 87 times previously, with Harvard holding a narrow 44-41 lead in wins. There are two ties in the series. Penn has won the last five in the series, though, the Quakers' longest streak since they won six in a row from 1972-77. Last year, Penn took a 14-10 decision in Cambridge. Three of the four wins prior to that game by a goal, with the fourth coming by just two goals.
About Harvard
The Crimson (7-3, 2-1) are led by former Penn assistant coach Chris Wojcik; their Ivy wins have come over Brown (10-8) and Dartmouth (10-8), with the loss coming to Cornell (15-11). Morgan Cheek, a second-team All-Ivy attackman last year, leads Harvard with 32 assists and 49 poins, while Kyle Anderson has a team-high 29 goals and 34 points. Joe Lang was first-team All-Ivy in midfield last year and has 24 points (10g, 14a). Jonathan Butler was second-team All-Ivy on defense in 2017. In goal, Robert Shaw has played every second and has a .528 save percentage and an 11.00 save percentage.

About Penn
*Penn has two players on this year's Tewaaraton Award Watch List, Keating and junior
Simon Mathias. Keating also was recently named Midseason All-America Honorable Mention by
Inside Lacrosse.
*Mathias continues to lead the Quakers with 37 points (22g, 15a) after recording three goals last Saturday vs. Brown.
*In addition, Mathias' point-scoring streak is up to 39 games which is every game of his college career, and his 16-game goal-scoring streak is tied for the second-longest in the country.
*Only a junior, Mathias already is 12th on Penn's all-time points list with 124; he needs 11 to tie Corey Winkoff (2008-11) for 11th place. His 78 career goals are two shy of tenth place, shared at this time by Todd Minerly (1998-2000) and Michael Page (1975-77).
*Senior
Kevin McGeary and junior
Tyler Dunn were both held scoreless last weekend by Yale, but they remain second and third on the team, respectively, in points: McGeary 22 points (17g, 5a) and Dunn 20 points (18g, 2a).
*Like Mathias, McGeary recently hit triple digits in career points and is currently at 106 (76g, 30a).
*Sophomore
Adam Goldner led Penn's attack at Yale with four points, and he has 18 goals on the season as well as two assists for 20 points. Junior
Tyler Dunn also has 18 goals and two assists this season.
*Freshman
Sean Lulley had a season/career high of three points against Cornell, scoring once and dishing off two assists. He now has 12 points this season (6g, 6a). Junior
Joe Licciardi has nine points (3g, 6a).
*Penn has had two long poles score this season, as All-America candidate Keating scored against Michigan and Yale—amazingly, his 29th and 30th career goals—while
Jack Ullrich tallied against Maryland. In the Duke win, Keating had two assists including a feed on the winner.
*Overall, Penn has had 14 different goal scorers this season and 18 players record at least a point.
*At the other end, junior
Reed Junkin—the 2016 co-Ivy League Rookie of the Year with teammate Mathias—has a .493 save percentage and a 9.67 goals-against average. He came up with a career-high 20 saves and allowed just seven goals earlier this season at Princeton.
*The Quakers return their top 11 scorers from last season. Of the 147 goals scored by the Quakers a year ago, all but six were scored by players who return to this year's roster.
*Keating was a third-team USILA All-America selection last year after earning honorable mention recognition as a sophomore. He is the top-scoring LSM in the country, entering the season with 28 goals and six assists for 34 career points.
*Mathias—who led Penn in goals (28), assists (20) and points (48) last year—was a second-team All-Ivy selection last year after sharing Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors in 2016 with Junkin.
*McGeary (23-12—35 in 2017) and Dunn (18-4—22) received honorable mention All-Ivy recognition last year.
