No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Hits Road For Games At Drexel And No. 25 Georgetown

PHILADELPHIA – One of eight teams still unbeaten in Division I women's lacrosse, the University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team (4-0) heads out for a pair of road games this week. Up first is a short trip – 1.5 miles to be exact – to Drexel University (1-3) for a Tuesday matinee, before the Quakers face their third Top-25 game of the early season at No. 25 Georgetown (4-1) on Saturday in the nation's capital. Both games are slated for 3 p.m. starts.
 
Notes To Know
  • The Quakers are 4-0 to start the 2018 season, their best start since a 6-0 start in 2015.
  • Penn is 10-2 all-time against Drexel. The Dragons won the last meeting between the two teams, an 11-8 win at Franklin Field on Feb. 23, 2013.
  • Penn is 6-0 against Drexel at Vidas Field. The Quakers are 9-0 at Vidas Field all-time, though, with three NCAA Tournament wins using Vidas Field as "home field" during Penn's graduation weekend.
  • The Red and Blue are 4-1 all-time against Georgetown, and have won the last four meetings between the two teams.
  • The Quakers have outscored the Hoyas, 52-28 over the past four meetings.
 
The Defense Doesn't Rest
Penn enters this week ranked No. 2 in the country in Scoring Defense, allowing just 7.25 goals-per-game. Penn has played multiple goalies throughout the season, but Mikaila Cheeseman and Maggie Smith have posted a combined .547 save percentage which ranks No. 4 in the nation.
 
Start Fast, Start Strong
The Quakers have dominated opponents in first halves this season, outscoring foes, 32-15, in the first half of games.
 
Weekly Wonders
Sophomores Gabby Rosenzweig and Mikaila Cheeseman earned Ivy League Weekly Awards for their work last week in a pair of Penn wins. Rosenzweig totaled 13 points in two games, setting a new career high with five goals against Rutgers. Cheeseman made 10 saves at No. 18 Cornell in her first career start, finishing with 17 over 90:00 work in two games.
 
Record Book Watch
Alex Condon enters this week's game ranked No. 11 all-time at Penn in career goals (94) and No. 17 in career points (111) … Condon is three goals away from moving into No. 10 all-time … Emily Rogers-Healion ranks No. 7 in career assists (58) and No. 15 in career points (119).
 
Rosenzweig On A Roll
Gabby Rosenzweig has six career hat tricks – each coming over her last 10 games dating back to last season. She has 29 goals over that 10-game span. Through 21 career games, Rosenzweig has amassed 62 career points – averaging 2.9 points per game.
 
An Assisting Asset
Emily Rogers-Healion tied Penn's single-game record with seven assists against Rutgers on February 28. She is just the second Penn player all-time with seven helpers in a single game. Her seven assists in a game this season are the most by any Division I player in a game. Penn's 15 assists on 19 goals against the Scarlet Knights are the most by a team in a game this season.
 
The Erin Express
After causing 11 turnovers all of last season, Erin Barry has seven caused turnovers in four games in 2018. She's registered two goals and an assist in each of her last three games, winning seven total draws along the way.
 
Zoe-M-G
Freshman Zoe Belodeau set a school record with 11 draw controls on February 28 against Rutgers, the fifth-most in a single game by an Ivy Leaguer in Ancient Eight history. She enters this week No. 2 on Penn's scoring list with 10 goals and 17 points while leading the team with 19 draws.

Alex Condon has 10 career games with 4+ goals. The Quakers are 10-0 in those games.
 
Dissecting Drexel
The Dragons are 1-3 this season, their lone win a 14-9 defeat of Iona. Drexel has lost at Johns Hopkins (14-10) and Rutgers (15-7), two teams Penn has defeated. Drexel's other loss was a 16-8 loss to Georgetown.
 
Lucy Schneidereith leads Drexel with nine goals and 11 points, while Colleen Grady has eight goals and 11 points. Karson Harris has 10 points, 17 draw controls, six caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Rachel Warden has 10 draw controls and 11 ground balls.
 
Zoe Bennett has started all four games in goal and has a 13.03 GAA and .382 Save %.
 
The Dragons are coached by Hannah Wszalek. The 2009 Penn grad played four seasons under Karin Corbett with the Quakers and reached three Final Fours. Wszalek is in her fifth season as head coach, this will be the first meeting between Corbett and her former athlete.
 
Getting To Know Georgetown
The Hoyas are 4-1 this season, with wins in three consecutive games. After a 21-13 loss to Towson, the Hoyas have defeated Drexel (16-8), No. 20 Johns Hopkins (15-14), and Delaware (12-8).
 
Junior midfielder Francesca Whitehurst, 2017 Big East Midfielder of the Year, has 31 draw controls to go with nine goals this season. Michaela Bruno leads the team with 16 goals and 21 points, while Taylor Gebhardt has 13 goals.
 
Haelle Chomo is 3-1 in goal this season, but has a 13.09 GAA and a .374 Save %.
