PHILADELPHIA - A five-game road swing for the University of Pennsylvania (15-6, 6-2 Ivy) women's basketball team continues this weekend, as the Quakers are set for the New York swing of Columbia on Friday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m., followed by a Saturday matchup at Cornell. Penn looks to get back to its winning ways after its nine-game streak was upended by Princeton on Tuesday.
In the Series vs. Columbia: 65th Meeting
The Quakers hold a commanding 46-18 lead in the all-time series vs. the Lions, and have won 13-straight games against them. Earlier this year, the Red and Blue defeated Columbia 70-51 for their second Ivy win of the season, holding the conference's leading scorer, Camille Zimmerman, to a season-low nine points. Penn won its last game at Levien Gymnasium 64-54.
In the Series vs. Cornell: 79th Meeting
Penn is riding a three-game win streak over the Big Red while holding the lead in the all-time series, 57-21. In the teams' first meeting this year, the Quakers jumped out early and never looked back, cruising to a 68-48 victory over visiting Cornell at The Palestra. Penn tallied a six-point win last season in Ithaca and has held the Big Red to less than 60 points in six-straight meetings.

Last Time Out: L, 60-40 at Princeton (Feb. 13, 2018)
- The Quakers suffered a tough night on offense against the Tigers, recording their lowest point total since 2012 en route to a 60-40 defeat. The senior duo of
Anna Ross and
Michelle Nwokedi led the way in double figures, but it was not enough to take down Princeton on the road, despite winning the turnover battle.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia enters Friday's matchup on a four-game slide, owning consecutive losses to Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale and Brown. Last time out vs. the Bears, the Lions dropped an 84-80 decision at home. Columbia currently sits last in the Ivy League with a record of 1-7, with its singular win coming at Cornell. The Lions are paced by the Ivy League's leading scorer in Camille Zimmerman, who posted 22 points and 24 rebounds against Brown in her last contest. Freshman Riley Casey has also emerged as an offensive threat for Columbia, averaging 10.3 points per game.
Scouting the Big Red
Cornell sits tied for sixth in the Ivy League race with Brown, owning a conference record of 2-6. The Big Red split the weekend last time out, tallying a buzzer-beating victory over Brown, but coming up short against Yale. Cornell is led by Samantha Widmann, who averages 15.9 points and 2.57 steals per game. It was Samantha Clement who burned the Quakers last time the squads faced however, as the junior notched a career-high 23 points in defeat.
Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge
The Quakers have partnered with the American Cancer Society for the 3-Point Challenge. During the month of February, fans can pledge to donate a certain dollar amount for every 3-point basket made by the Red and Blue! Penn currently ranks in the top-10 nationally in funds earned. Head to
Penn's Pledge It page for info!
Leading the League
As a team, the Quakers lead the Ivy League in 10 different statistical categories, placing in the top-two in 18 total categories. Penn boasts the top spot in assist-turnover ratio (1.30), blocked shots (121), blocks per game (5.8), fewest turnovers (253), field-goal percentage defense (36.3), offensive rebounds per game (16), rebounds (898), rebounds per game (42.76), scoring margin (11.7), and turnovers per game (12.0).
Whitlatch from Deep
Lauren Whitlatch has led the charge for a historic shooting year for the Quakers, as Penn is on pace to break the program record in 3-pointers made. Whitlatch has hit at least one 3-pointer in 14-straight games, averaging nearly three treys each contest. Penn has hit 10+ 3-pointers eight times this year and is undefeated in those games.
On the Rebound
The Quakers have proven victorious seven-straight times in games following a loss to an Ivy League opponent. The last time the Quakers lost a game directly following a loss to an Ancient Eight opponent was Jan. 15, 2014.
What's Next?
The Quakers round out their regular season road contests with a trip to the northern-most Ivies, set to face Harvard on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. before a matchup at Dartmouth the following day at 5 p.m.
