PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania men's fencing team has won their third straight share of the Ivy League Title. This marks Penn's 17th Ivy title in the team's history and fourth time that it has won in the last ten years. The Quakers will share the title with Harvard and Columbia who also went 4-1 on the weekend.
How it Happened
* Yale
After beating the nation's number one team in Harvard the day before the Quakers look to start day two on a high note as they took on Yale. Winning all three weapon groups, Penn came out victorious winning 17-10.
In saber it was
Julian Merchant and
Andrew Sun who went 3-0 to earn six of the seven points. In epee, Raynis and Garzo each went 2-1 to help edge out a 5-4 win.

The next challenge for the Quakers came against No. 6 Princeton. Despite losing two of the three weapon groups, Penn won by the narrow margin of 14-13.
Leading the way were
Julian Merchant,
Andrew Sun, and
Adam Green who all went 2-1 to win foil 6-3 which was enough to put the Quakers over the Tigers.
Justin Yoo also put together a solid 2-1 performance in epee.
Willie Upbin earned the touch that clinched the bout for the Red and Blue.

After three rounds, the Quakers held sole possession of first place in the Ivy Round Robins. Next up was Columbia, a team the Quakers had lost to earlier this season 15-12. While Penn won 5-4 in epee, they lost in foil and saber to give the Lions the win.

Like Columbia, the Quakers had already beaten Brown this season and in order to clinch a share of the Ivy Title, they would need to beat them for a second time. They did just that as the Red and Blue got 8-1 victories from Saber and Foil and a 7-2 win from epee to clinch.
The Red and Blue got 3-0 outings from Garzo, Upbin, and Merchant to help seal the win and clinch a share of the Ivy Title for a third straight season.
