PHILADELPHIA - The year of 2018 is coming to a close and the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team aims to end it on a high note, set for a Monday matinee at Stetson on New Year's Eve. The Quakers, winners of three straight, will tipoff in DeLand, Fla. at 11 a.m.
In the Series vs. Stetson: Third Meeting
The Quakers and Hatters have met just twice before, and not in over 20 years. Both matchups came in DeLand, with Stetson winning 90-67 in 1988, before Penn earned an 85-72 victory in 1998.

Last Time Out: W, 55-39 at Drexel (Dec. 21, 2018)
- The Quakers embarked on the shortest road trip in Division I basketball last time out, composing a dominant performance against Drexel in The Battle of 33rd Street, winning 55-39. Penn gave the nation's top scoring defense a taste of its own medicine, holding the Dragons to just over 20 percent shooting from the field.

Eleah Parker led the way in all facets of the game, tallying a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while notching a career-high seven blocks on the defensive end.
Scouting the Hatters
Stetson enters Monday's contest at 4-8 overall, but winners of three straight, claiming the Hatter Classic title with victories over North Dakota, Florida A&M and North Dakota State before the Christmas holiday. The Hatters have faced a difficult schedule, owning losses to the likes of Alabama, Texas and Tennessee. Sarah Sagerer leads the way, averaging 13.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Stetson is balanced offensively, with four players averaging at least 10 points each time out.
Against the ASUN Conference
Coach McLaughlin is 4-2 all-time against current members of the ASUN Conference. The Quakers defeated another member of the league, NJIT, 85-42 in November.
All About the Defense
Penn's calling card this season has undoubtedly been defense, as the Quakers rank third nationally, allowing just 48.6 points per game. Penn has held four-straight opponents to 47 points or less for the first time since 1975.
Penn has won 63 of its last 64 games when holding opponents to 49-points or less.
Player of the Week Parker
Reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year
Eleah Parker has picked up the pace of late for the Quakers, with five-straight double-digit scoring efforts, scoring at least 15 with at least seven rebounds in each five. She notched her third double-double of the season last time out at Drexel and was named Ivy League Player of the Week for her efforts, including a career-high seven blocks.
Parker was named to the Navy Classic All-Tournament Team for her performance over the Thanksgiving weekend, and currently leads the the team in scoring, rebounds and blocks.
Brick Wall
Opponents have faced a tough task when going inside to face Parker, as the sophomore ranks fourth nationally, averaging 3.1 blocks per game. Her 28 blocks so far this season individually would rank her over 93 TEAMS in block totals.
Strong On The Glass
Penn currently leads the Ivy League in nearly every rebounding category, owning a margin of +9.6 on the boards. The Quakers are 6-1 this year when outrebounding their opponent.
Not Your Typical Guard
Senior captain
Ashley Russell has been known for her tenacity on the court throughout her time with the Quakers, but as the veteran starter on the court for Penn, she has ratcheted up the intensity even more this season. She ranks second on the team in rebounding, averaging 7.2 boards per game, despite only measuring 5-10. Earlier this year, Russell collected a career-high 12 rebounds against Maine.
Mid-Major Respect
The Quakers entered the year ranked 21st in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll and have soared up to 11th. Penn has played two ranked teams in the poll this season (Maine, Drexel).
