MATCH DAY 16 - Harvard (3-12, 1-5 Ivy League) at Penn (4-5-6, 1-4-1 Ivy League)

Series Information
Harvard leads 42-40-5 | Last meeting: 2017 (Penn 3-0)
The Crimson hold the slight edge in the all-time series after 87 meetings between the two squads, with neither side able to firmly grasp control, especially of late. In the last 20 meetings between Harvard and Penn, wins have been split evenly down the middle at 10 apiece. Last year saw a dominating win for the Quakers in Cambridge, as the Red and Blue prevailed 3-0 behind goals from
Alex Touche,
Jake Kohlbrenner and
Jerel Blades.
Joe Swenson assisted on two of the goals that evening, with Kohlbrenner assisting on the other.
Senior Night
Saturday's contest marks the final match for six seniors from Penn:
Gavin Barger,
Jerel Blades,
Scott Forbes,
Etan Mabourakh,
Erumuse Momoh and
Joe Swenson. There will be a brief pregame ceremony prior to kickoff to honor the careers of the six Quakers.
Set Piece Stars
One of Penn's primary offensive weapons this season has been the set piece, particularly the connection between junior midfielder
Brandon Bartel and sophomore defender
Alex Touche. The two have linked up to produce three goals this year, twice from corner kicks and once on a free kick. Each goal was produced on a high arcing from Bartel towards the head of Touche, who's 6-4 height was key in changing the trajectory towards the back of the net. Bartel leads both the team and the Ivy League with five assists this year, while Touche's four goals are tied for the fifth-most in the league.
Savin' Scott
Senior goalkeeper
Scott Forbes has produced his best season in between the pipes for Penn, one of just three goalies in the Ivy League to boast a sub-1.0 goals against average. His save percentage of nearly 82 percent ranks 19th nationally entering the final weekend of action, and he is on track to finish fifth in single-season history this season with over 1,500 minutes played. Penn's six shutouts this season as a team are its most since recording six in 2013.
Offensive Catalysts
In addition to Bartel and Touche helping to spur the Penn offense, several more catalysts have added themselves into the equation to get points on the board of late. Sophomore
Jake Kohlbrenner has netted three goals in the last five games for Penn, including a golden-goal winner against Brown and a point-saving equalizer at Yale. Freshmen have inserted themselves into the mix as well, as rookie
Matt Leigh netted the game-winner against Delaware, and
Isaac McGinnis and
Anthony Rovito have both landed assists of late.
Scouting the Crimson
Harvard enters Saturday's contest at last in the Ivy League, with an overall record of 3-12 and a 1-5 mark in conference play. After winning their opening Ivy League match over Yale, the Crimson are in the midst of a seven-match losing streak, and have not tallied a win on the road all season. Cesar Farias Jr. and Alfred Perez lead the team with three goals each, while sophomore Matt Freese has played the bulk of the minutes in between the pipes for Harvard, sporting a goals against average of 1.64.
