How it Happened

The Quakers wrapped up their first Ivy League road trip of the season on Saturday against the Big Green. Outside of each team taking their own 3-point leads, not much separated either squad in the opening set. Dartmouth led 3-0 early and then Penn used a 4-0 run to go up 10-7. Eight ties followed with the last one occurring at 20-20. The Big Green took five of the next eight points to take the opener 25-23.

Penn went down early in the second falling in a 4-1 deficit. The Red and Blue fought back to within one, but a 4-0 run by Dartmouth put the Quakers down 16-11. Three kills by Raven Sulaimon sparked a 5-0 run to tie the match at 18 and for the second set in a row, both teams were tied at 20 in the late stages of the set. After Penn went up 22-21, Dartmouth took the final four points as the Quakers fell 25-22 and 2-0 overall.

The Red and Blue came out of the locker room at the half with a lot of fire. Once again it was Sulaimon who sparked the Quakers to take an early 5-0 lead. Slowly, Dartmouth climbed back and with a 3-0 run, the Big Green took the lead at 13-12. A 4-0 run by Dartmouth put the Quakers down 24-20 and four match points. Sulaimon helped get the Quakers back within two, but a final kill by the Big Green sealed the match as Penn fell 25-22 for a second consecutive set and 3-0.
