Heavyweight Men Win Two Divisions at Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA – In its final intercollegiate tune-up of the fall, the University of Pennsylvania heavyweight men took first in the Championship Eights and the Club Championship Eights at Saturday's Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, which took place amid blustery and rainy conditions. Overall, Penn had three boats compete in Saturday's three-mile, head-style race.
 
Championship Eights
Penn was first out of 15 boats in the division, clocking 11:56.143. That was more than two seconds ahead of the second-fastest boat, the Chinese Rowing Association (11:58.815). Penn A.C. was third, in 12:00.099, while Drexel was the second-fastest college boat in the division in 12:05.597.
 
Club Championship Eights
The Quakers won this 44-boat division in 12:07.507, well ahead of Navy which had the second-fastest (12:16.599) and third-fastest (12:22.529) boats on the day.
 
Championship Fours
Penn was fourth out of 37 boats in this division, clocking 14:03.343. New York A.C. won the division in 14:00.727, with the Saint Joseph's A and B boats taking second and third.
