How it Happened
The Quakers jolted out of the gates and began to mount pressure from the midfield. Penn earned its first corner after ten minutes, but Reese Vogel's shot went wide of the goal. Rachel Mirkin forced the Sydney Terroso to make her first save of the game a minute later, but the Yale keeper reacted well to keep the game scoreless.
Julia Russo forced a save from Terroso in the 18th minute off Penn's second corner of the game. Russo picked the ball up again off the rebound, but her ensuing shot went wide.
Yale earned their first corner of the game in the 22nd minute of play. Theodora Dillman placed a hard shot on frame, but Rosati reacted well to get low and make the save.
Penn nearly opened the scoring with minutes to go in the second half. Russo had a shot saved, and Quinn saw a shot bounce just wide. The Quakers outshot Yale 9-3 in the first half but were unable to find a breakthrough.
In the 48th minute of play, Penn earned its fourth corner of the game. Erin Kelly sent it in to Schneck at the top of the circle. Schneck then played a give and go with Vogel and slotted the ball low and past the keeper.
The goal was Schneck's team-leading eighth of the season, and the assist gave Vogel her first point as a Quaker.
Minutes later, Schneck picked up a loose ball at the edge of the circle. She fired a pass in to Quinn, who received the ball from five yards out, turned, and slotted it into the Yale goal.
The Bulldogs, however, would not count themselves out just yet. With three minutes to go, Yale earned a corner. Camille Scheyer's initial shot on the corner was blocked. Sarah King then got off another shot after finding the ball in the circle, but Rosati was there to make the save.
Rosati sealed the shutout saving a final shot from Scheyer with two minutes to go.
The Quakers return to Ellen Vagelos Field for the last time this season as they host Brown on Saturday at noon. The game will be senior day for the Quakers and will celebrate the careers of Paige Meily, Kelsey Mendell, Rachel Mirkin, Sofia Palacios, and Karen Seid.
