Hartford, Conn. - Winners of their last four and off to their best start since 1985-86, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team faced their toughest challenge yet on Saturday as they took on top-ranked Trinity on the road. Missing four of their usual starters, the Quakers fell 9-0 to the Bantams.
Freshman
Andrew Douglas lost his first match of his collegiate career as he fell in straight games to Kush Kumar. Douglas was one of seven Quakers to lose 3-0.
Also losing the first match of his collegiate career was sophomore
Wil Hagen. Hagen was 11-0 in his two seasons at Penn before losing at number six, 11-5, 11-4, 11-3.
David Yacobucci fell 11-5, 11-4 before toughing out the third game 13-11 to force a fourth. After another competitive game, the sophomore eventually fell 11-9 to lose 3-1. Senior
James Watson also pushed his match to four games as he took the first game 11-9 before losing the next three 11-7, 11-4, 11-5.
The Red and Blue will get ten days off before they dive right into the rest of their Ivy Schedule. Penn has five matches remaining, all against Ivy opponents. It all begins Wednesday, January 31 at 7 P.M. at The Ringe.
