PHILADELPHIA – The #JWatch will move on to a new home next week as
Justin Watson will head to Mobile, Ala. for the Reese's Senior Bowl as the All-American wide receiver accepted an invitation on Friday in advance on Saturday's East-West Shrine Game.
Â
A five-time All-American and Penn's career record holder in receptions (286), receiving yards (3,777), receiving touchdowns (33) and all-purpose yards (4,116) Watson has been turning heads in St. Petersburg, Fla. at the Shrine Game during practices.
Â
NFL scouts have seen some of Watson, and they want to see more. The first player in Ivy League history to catch a pass in all 40 career games, catch a touchdown in 10 consecutive games and record three career 1,000-yard seasons will become the first Quaker since 1998 (Mitch Marrow) and third overall to play in the Senior Bowl on January 27 at 2:30 p.m. EST live on NFL Network.
Â
Watson is the first Quaker to be invited to multiple senior All-Star games since Gerald McGinley played in both the Senior Bowl and Shrine Game in 1952.
Â
Before making way to Mobile, Watson will play for the East team in the Shrine Game on the NFL Network January 20 at 3 p.m. EST.
