Sprint Football Faces Army West Point Saturday In Battle of Unbeatens

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team welcomes Army West Point to University City Saturday for the Quakers' home opener in a matchup of first-place teams. Penn and Army West Point enter week three tied atop their respective Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Division standings at 2-0.

PREVIEWING PENN
*Penn defeated Army West Point in last season's home opener at Franklin Field, 14-9, marking the Quakers' first win over the Black Knights since 2008. Andrew Sutton had a breakout game in the win, leading all receivers with five catches for 158 yards and a touchdown.

*The Quakers are off to a 2-0 start for the fourth straight season following wins over Caldwell and Chestnut Hill in the first two weeks.

*Penn's league-leading offense (458.0 yards per game) meets its first true test this season in Army West Point's top-ranked defense (98.0 yards per game).

*Quarterback Eddie Jenkins enters weeks three as the league leader in passing touchdowns (4), passing yards per attempt (10.4) and total offense per game (272.5). Running back Jake Klaus ranks second in all-purpose yards per game (146.0) while Ryan Leone's average of 95 yards per game on the ground is also second. As a team, Penn leads the league in rushing with 533 yards in two games.

*The second-ranked scoring defense is led by the league's leading tackler, Matt Gorman, and Tracey Woods Jr. who ranks first in the CSFL in pass break-ups with six. The defensive unit is also in for quite the matchup opposite Army West Point's second-ranked offense, led by the CSFL's leading rusher, Quay Gilmore.

*Jenkins was named CSFL Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against Caldwell in week one. The sophomore was 11-of-16 passing for 191 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards and a score to open the 2017 season.

NEWS AND NOTES: ARMY WEST POINT
*The Black Knights have gotten off to a fast start in the first two weeks, posting convincing wins over Post and Franklin Pierce by a combined score of 121-0.

*Army West Point was dominant in their week one, 70-0 over Post due in large part to 447 yards of total offense - 249 rushing yards and 198 passing yards - while holding Post to just 32 yards of total offense.
 
*Quay Gilmore led Army West Point with 13 carries for 117 yards and four touchdowns and Keegan West completed 5-of-8 passes for 129 yards with two touchdowns.

*Week two was no different for the Black Knights, as they racked up 311 yards on offense en route to a 51-0 win at Franklin Pierce. Army West Point held Franklin Peirce to just five first downs on offense including a Curtis Jerzeric fumble return for a touchdown.
