Schneck, Hoover Selected for USA Field Hockey Young Women's Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Pennsylvania rising sophomore Alexa Schneck and rising senior Alexa Hoover have been invited to compete in the 2017 USA Field Hockey Young Women’s National Championship.

The Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC) serves as a high-level, international structured competition which is a selection avenue to Junior National Camps and the Development Squad Camp. This event will take place at the Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. from June 12-16, 2017.

Hoover was selected as a NFHCA Second Team All-American, First-Team NFHCA All-Region (Mid-Atlantic), and All-ECAC and first-team All-Ivy honoree in 2016 after she finished the fall with a team-high 15 goals and seven assists. On October 2, she tallied the 45th and 46th goals of her career to become Penn’s all-time leading goal scorer and now stands atop both the goals (56) and points (131) lists in the Quaker record books.

Schneck received Second Team All-Region honors and was also chosen as a Second-Team All-Ivy honoree to cap a terrific first season with the Quakers in 2016. Schneck started all 17 games of her freshman campaign and notched three goals and four assists for 10 points. Three of those scores were game-winners in victories against LIU Brooklyn, Dartmouth (2OT), and Columbia.
