Box Score
PHILADELPHIA – No. 10 Penn dominated Dartmouth at Franklin Field to improve to 9-2 overall and 2-1 inside the Ivy League, blasting the Big Green, 17-6.
The 17 goals scored by the Quakers were the most in a game against the Big Green (5-5, 0-4 Ivy) since Penn put up 23 in 1981 and the most in an Ivy League game since scoring 17 against Columbia in 2014.
The 17 goals scored in an Ivy League game are tied for 10th-most in an Ancient Eight contest all-time by a Penn team.
The Red and Blue controlled almost all aspects of the game. Penn had a 39-19 edge in shots, a 20-8 advantage on ground balls and committed just nine turnovers to 16 by the Big Green. Even on the draw – where Dartmouth entered the game ranked No. 4 in the country with 16.4 draws per game – the Quakers matched the Big Green draw for draw as each team won 12.
Britt Brown made five saves and picked up three ground balls in 43:18 of work before freshman
Mikaila Cheeseman came on for her first collegiate action and made three saves.
Sophomore
Katy Junior continued her stellar play to pace the defense, causing four turnovers and picking up four ground balls.
Megan Kelly and
Lauren O'Mara each had two caused turnovers.
Erin Barry again filled all columns on the stat sheet, adding four draw controls and three ground balls to her three-point day. Also winning four draw controls was fellow freshman
Chelsea Kibler.
The Quakers never trailed in the game, scoring the contest's first three goals and never looking back. The Big Green mounted their only true challenge midway through the first half, scoring twice in 42 seconds to cut Penn's lead to 3-2 before the Quakers scored the next eight goals to build a commanding 11-3 lead.
Dartmouth did not score for the remainder of the first half, and Penn would eventually hold the Big Green to a drought of 18:51 before the Big Green scored early in the second half. That goal only rendered Penn's lead 11-3, and the Red and Blue would score the next four to put away the game.
