#10 Women's Lacrosse Heads to Rutgers (Wed.), Hosts #15 Cornell (Sat.)

PHILADELPHIA – No. 10 Penn is in action twice this week as the Quakers conclude a three-game road swing to open the 2017 season on Wednesday at Rutgers (6 p.m.) before opening Ivy League play at Franklin Field on Saturday against Cornell (1 p.m.)

Notes to Know
• Penn was won eight consecutive regular season games dating back to 4/3/16
• The Quakers are 8-10 all-time against Rutgers
• Penn has won six of the last seven against the Scarlet Knights, including five of the last six since the series resumed in 2011.
• Penn is 28-16 all-time against Cornell.
• The Quakers are 12-1 against the Big Red since 2007, including a 10-0 record in the regular season.
•On Saturday, Penn will be playing Cornell for the third time in its last 10 games overall. The Quakers closed the 2016 regular season with a 10-6 win at Cornell on April 30. On May 8, the Big Red defeated the Quakers, 11-10 in the Ivy League Tournament title game.
• Penn enters the week No. 1 in the country as a team in save percentage at .682. Britt Brown has been the force behind that save percentage, and is the individual leader in save percentage and saves-per-game (15.0).
Alex Condon's 5.0 goals-per-game leads the Ivy League and ranks No. 2 overall among Division I players.
• Penn ranks No. 10 in the country in scoring defense, averaging 7.0 goals allowed-per-game.
•Penn picked up a pair of Ivy League weekly awards after last week's 10-7 win at Johns Hopkins. Attacker Alex Condon was named Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring eight goals, while goalkeeper Britt Brown was named Defensive Player of the Week following a 16-save performance.

Regarding Rutgers
• The Scarlet Knights are 2-2 overall this season and 1-1 at home at High Point Solutions Stadium.
• Last weekend, Rutgers was defeated by Delaware, 17-5. The Blue Hens stormed out to an 8-0 lead in the game and never looked back.
•The Scarlet Knights return a pair of All-Region selections from last season. First-team All-Region midfielder Kristina Dunphey has five goals and two assists this season, while second-team All-Region defender Amanda Casten has five caused turnovers and eight ground balls.
• Amanda Turturro leads Rutgers with eight goals and 11 points this season. Junior Nicole Kopyta had nine goals in four games this season after scoring just one in five previous games over her career.
• Rutgers is the second consecutive Big Ten opponent for the Quakers. Penn will play four of the seven Big Ten programs as part of its non-conference schedule.

Concerning Cornell
• The Big Red enter Saturday's game with a 1-1 overall record.
• After an 18-6 win at Villanova to open the season, the Big Red fell to #6 Penn State, 9-8, on Saturday.
• Cornell outshot the Nittany Lions, 31-18, but never held the lead in the game.
• Last year, Cornell was 14-5. The Big Red were Ivy League Tournament champions and advanced to the second round.
• The Big Red return four All-Ivy selections from 2016, led by first-team honorees senior defender Catie Smith and junior midfielder Joey Coffy. They are joined by senior goalkeeper Renee Poulott and junior midfielder Taylor Reed who were second-team selections.
• Smith has 10 ground balls over two games to start the season
• Kristy Gilbert leads the Big Red in scoring with six goals.
