Brown and Yale Await Quakers As Women's Basketball Hits the Road

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania (14-6, 7-0) returns to the road this weekend for their second stint of a back-to-back travel when they face to Brown (14-7, 5-3) and Yale (11-10, 2-6) for the continuation of their Ivy League schedule. Game time vs. Brown is set for 5:30 p.m. in Providence on Friday while the Bulldogs and Quakers square off at 6 p.m. on Saturday in New Haven.  

GAME 21 – PENN (14-6, 7-0) vs. BROWN (14-7, 5-3)
Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 * 5:30 p.m. | at Brown, 80th Meeting (Penn leads, 44-35)
The Quakers will see the Bears for the second time this season as the first half of the Ivy schedule has been put to rest. Penn posted their 10th straight win over the Bears on Jan. 14 with an 86-60 victory at The Palestra and the Quakers shot over 50% from the field to top the fast-paced Brown offense. Four members of the Red and Blue scored in double-figures to lead the way for the Quakers and the 86 points marked the largest win margin for Penn dating back to 2014.  Brown currently sits fourth in the conference standings with a 5-3 Ancient Eight record.

GAME 22 – PENN (14-6, 7-0 Ivy) vs. YALE (11-10, 2-6)

Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 * 6:00 p.m. | at Yale, 80th Meeting (Penn leads 41-38)
The Penn-Yale rematch is set for Saturday as the Quakers look to defend their 66-55 win from Jan. 13. The Quakers shot a season-high 52% in the first meeting while Sydney Stipanovich led the effort with a team-best 13 points and 10 boards. Kasey Chambers and Michelle Nwokedi were also in double figures with each providing 11 points and Nwokedi added eight rebounds and seven assists. The Quakers have tallied seven-straight wins over Yale dating back to Feb. 14, 2014.

The University of Pennsylvania finished the weekend sweep with a 61-55 victory over Cornell on Saturday night in Ithaca, N.Y. With the win, the Quakers moved to 7-0 in the Ancient Eight and boosted their conference win streak to 11 games. The Quakers were superb on the defensive end for the second straight night and outrebounded their opponents by a 40-25 margin. Penn also held a 43.4% (23-of-53) advantage from the field compared to the 39.2% shooting (20-of-51) of their opponents. Anna Ross, in a game in front of her hometown crowd, led the Red and Blue with 15 points, three assists and three steals while Sydney Stipanovich tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Princess Aghayere was also in double-digits for the second straight evening with 12 points.

Up Next
Following Saturday's game against Yale, the Quakers return home to The Palestra when they host Cornell and Columbia on Feb. 24 and 25 for the final home weekend of the 2016-17 season.
