Men's Basketball Gets Back to Big 5 Play Wednesday at #4/4 Villanova

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team gets back to Big 5 action on Wednesday night, making the short ride out to the Main Line to face a Villanova team ranked fourth in both national polls. This unique night will see the Quakers and Wildcats tipping it off in the quaint Jake Nevin Fieldhouse (built in 1932) for the first time in history.

Wednesday's game will be televised to a national audience on FOX Sports 2 (FS2).

THE SERIES
• This is the 65th meeting between the Quakers and the Wildcats in men's basketball, with Villanova leading the series 46-18.
 
• Villanova has won 14 in a row over Penn, including an 82-57 decision last year at The Palestra.
 
• Penn's last wins in this series came in consecutive seasons, in 2001-02 (75-74 in OT) and 2002-03 (72-58).
 
• Tonight marks Penn's first visit to the Nevin Fieldhouse for a game. Prior to this, the Red and Blue had made 10 appearances in the Pavilion, which is currently being renovated.
 
• The Quakers' next win on Villanova's campus will be its first. All of Penn's 18 wins against the 'Cats have come either at home or at a neutral site.
 
PENN vs. THE BIG EAST
Penn is 32-64 all-time against programs that currently make up the Big East Conference. Tonight marks the Quakers' only scheduled contest against a Big East foe this season.

3 • Penn had three players score at least 20 points in Saturday's win at Monmouth: Ryan Betley (26), Antonio Woods (career-high 23), and freshman Eddie Scott (21).
 
6 • Overtime periods played this season by Penn, including four in its most recent game, Saturday at Monmouth. It was just the second 4OT game in program history, the first coming on March 13, 1920 (Penn 26, Princeton 23).
 
8 • Penn is in the midst of playing eight-straight games away from The Palestra, The Quakers' next home game is not until December 27 when Delaware State comes to town.
 
9 • Penn is playing the last of its nine games in November tonight; the nine are a program record. Among NCAA Division 1 programs, only Chicago State (10) is playing more this month.
 
14 • Players on this year's roster with at least one double-figure scoring game at Penn. That includes seven players who have had at least one 20-point game, and six with at least one double-double. This season alone, 10 different players have reached double digits!
 
13 • Rebounds pulled down by Scott in Saturday's win at Monmouth; with the 21 points, he had his first collegiate double-double. Scott entered Saturday's game with just 12 points combined in Penn's first seven contests.
