ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The early season success for the University of Pennsylvania men's squash (4-0) team continued. After sweeping Virginia on the road on Saturday, the Quakers headed to Annapolis, Maryland to take on no. 14 Navy and earned a convincing 7-2 victory. Between their two matches over the weekend, The Red and Blue lost just two games and are now 4-0 on the season, all of their wins coming against top 20 schools.
Freshman
Andrew Douglas remained undefeated at the number one slot. Douglas won 11-4, 11-7, 11-4. Also winning in three games were
David Yacobucci,
Karim Hussein,
Wil Hagen, and
Max Reed.
While the five of the seven Quaker wins came in three games, the match didn't come without it's fair share of close matches. Down two games to one at the number two slot,
Hayes Murphy bounced back, showing great adversity on his way to winning the fourth game 11-5 and then the deciding game 11-6.
Yash Bahrgava also made a comeback after losing the first game 11-7. The freshman won the next three games 11-9, 11-3, 11-7 to win in four.
