Women's Soccer Faces Critical Ivy Matchup With Yale Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team seeks to ride the momentum stemming from last weekend's overtime win against Dartmouth into the final three weeks of Ivy League play, beginning Saturday afternoon when the Quakers host Yale. The Quakers and Bulldogs are set to meet on Rhodes Field for a 4 p.m. kick off with third place in the Ivy standings on the line, as the two side enter play knotted at seven points apiece.

GAME INFORMATION
YALE (9-3-2, 2-1-1 Ivy) at PENN (4-6-3, 2-1-1 Ivy)

Sat., October 21 | 4 p.m. | Rhodes Field | Live Stats - Ivy League Network

PREVIEWING PENN
*Although Yale leads the all-time series with Penn, 12-9-6, the Quakers are unbeaten in their last seven meetings against the Bulldogs, including a 6-1-5 mark in the last 11. Emily Sands' 80th minute goal lifted Penn to its second straight win over Yale last season in New Haven.

*Saturday's match holds large implications in the Ivy League standings, as the winner would take over sole possession of third place with only two games remaining. With a Princeton loss at Harvard, the winner of Penn-Yale would move into second place. If Princeton and Harvard tie, the winner of Penn-Yale would be locked into a tie for second with Tigers at ten points.

*Sophomore keeper Kitty Qu remains dominant in net for the Quakers after posting her fifth clean sheet of the season in Saturday's 1-0 win over Dartmouth. Qu's .889 save percentage not only leads the Ivy League at this point in the year, but also ranks 11th in all of NCAA Division I. The sophomore's .526 goals against average is currently 21st nationally.

*Erica Higa's 98th minute goal to down Dartmouth in the first overtime Saturday was the Quakers' first overtime victory at Rhodes Field since September 2014. It was also Higa's third goal of the season - and second game-winning goal - which surpasses her career goal total entering this season. With the win, Penn is now unbeaten in its last six home matches against Dartmouth, dating back to 2007.

*Of the seven players to reach the 1,000 minutes threshold this season, four are newcomers to the program this season. Jadyn Wilensky leads all Quakers with 1,244 minutes, while Laura Hamilton, Chase Geffert and Katharine Larson round out the remaining three spots while contributing to the Penn back line.

*A win against Yale Saturday would be Penn's 75th Ivy League win in program history and sixth in the last eight meetings with the Bulldogs.

NEWS AND NOTES: YALE
*Yale enters play Saturday unbeaten in its last four matches, including wins over Howard, Dartmouth and Harvard. The Bulldogs took down Howard on the road Wednesday night behind goals from Keri Cavallo and Aerial Chavarin to lift their non-conference record to 7-2-1 on the season.

*The Bulldogs and Quakers have faced similar fates to this point in the season, which has a lot to do with how the Ivy standings have shaped up. Both teams have common wins against Dartmouth (both in overtime) and Harvard, a loss against one of the top two teams and a scoreless draw with Cornell.

*Michelle Alozie leads all Bulldogs with seven goals and 19 points on the season, marks that rank third and second in the Ivy League, respectively. Alozie's three game-winning goals are good for second in the Ancient Eight, as well.
