PREVIEWING PENN
*The Quakers look to rebound after a tough 4-0 loss at the hands of Dartmouth on Saturday night, dropping them to 0-2-1 in the Ivy League. Penn did a solid job of controlling much of the run of play throughout the contest, but were bitten in the final third as the Big Green converted all four of their shots into goals.
*Senior
Joe Swenson continues to lead the team in points with seven on three goals and an assist. Fellow classmate
Sam Wancowicz owns two assists, the most on the team.
*Five Quakers have started and played in all 11 contests on the year: Swenson, Wancowicz,
Jerel Blades,
Erumuse Momoh and
Brandon Bartel. Momoh leads the team with 1,002 minutes played.
*
Etan Mabourakh and
Scott Forbes have split time nearly evenly in the cage for the Red and Blue, both owning one win each.
*Penn has proven to be stronger on both sides of the ball in the first half compared to the second. Six of the Quakers' eight goals scored this year have come in the first period of play while the Red and Blue have allowed seven less goals in the first half than the second.
NEWS AND NOTES: VILLANOVA
*The Wildcats are 6-7 overall entering Tuesday's non-conference matchup, with a 2-3 mark in BIG EAST action. Villanova is on a big of a rough patch, amassing a record of just 1-4 in its last five games, including losses to Georgetown, Princeton, DePaul and Creighton. The Quakers and Nova share one common opponent to date this fall in Delaware, as both sides walked away with a victory over the Blue Hens.
*Penn leads the all-time series over Villanova 16-8-5. Last year saw the Wildcats race out to a 4-0 win over the Red and Blue, and Penn will be looking for its first victory over their Main Line rivals since 2011. James C. Gentle Head Coach
Rudy Fuller is 3-6-1 in his tenure against Nova.
*Senior Lucas Hodges leads the way on offense for the Cats, owning 13 points on the year with five goals and three assists. As a team, Villanova has netted 19 goals this season, while allowing 17. Will Steiner has played all 13 games in goal for the Wildcats with a GAA of 1.27 and 49 saves to his name.
