PHILADELPHIA - The
University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team concludes their
non-conference schedule this week with a pair of games set to take place within
the friendly confines of The Palestra. On Wednesday, the Quakers host their
final Big 5 rival of the season when they take on Temple for a mid-week matchup,
while the Red and Blue will host Division III opponent Stevens Institute of
Technology on Sunday, Jan. 29.

leads, 33-14)
In a series that dates back to the 1970-71 season, Penn is 14-33 all-time
against the Owls but has won three of the last four meetings against Temple
since 2014. The Quakers won a 60-54 decision last season at McGonigle Hall but
each matchup has been a closely contested one: the last four games have been
decided by just 12 points total.

Meeting
Sunday's game marks the first meeting between the two schools in program
history. The Ducks, an NCAA Division III institution in the Empire 8
conference, recorded a 23-7 overall record in 2015-16 and return Kaitlyn Astel
who was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year. Stevens advanced to the
sectional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament just a year ago and Sunday's
contest will not count towards either team's standings in the NCAA RPI.

In a mid-week matchup against their local Big 5 rival, the University of
Pennsylvania fell to Villanova 60-48 on Wednesday night at The Palestra. The
contest marked the 44th all-time meeting between the two sides as Penn returned
to their Philadelphia roots following the start of Ivy League action.
Penn was led by the double-digit efforts of Anna Ross (12pts, 4rbs) and Sydney
Stipanovich (11pts, 7rbs) for the evening while the Wildcats saw 23 points from
Adrianna Hahn and 18 from Megan Quinn. Villanova shot 40.5% from the field
(17-42) for the contest, slightly ahead of Penn's 38.2% (21-55). The Wildcats
also won the boards, claiming 36 rebounds to Penn's 28.

Following the contests this week, the Quakers get back to their Ivy League
schedule when they host Harvard on Friday, Feb. 3 and Dartmouth on Saturday,
Feb. 4 back home at The Palestra for the continuation of their conference
slate.
