PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team opened the Ivy League portion of its season with a nine-point loss at preseason favorite Princeton. This weekend, the Quakers host the first of six Ivy League weekends, as Yale comes to town on Friday night and Brown visits The Palestra on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and will be the second halves of doubleheaders, as the Penn women host Yale and Brown at 5:30 both days.

Worldwide, both games will be televised on the Ivy League Digital Network; in the Philadelphia viewing area, however, fans will only be able to view Friday's Yale game live on the Comcast Network.

The Yale-Brown Home Weekend
• Penn has hosted this weekend 57 times in the Ivy League era; the Quakers have swept 38 times (most recently in 2012), split 17 times (including last year), and been swept twice (in 2014 and 2015).

GAME 13 – PENN (6-6, 0-1) vs. YALE (8-5, 0-0)
Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 * 8 p.m.
The Palestra (Philadelphia)

The Series with Yale
• The Quakers hold a 146-78 lead over the Bulldogs in a series that dates back to the first collegiate 5-on-5 game ever played, a 32-10 Yale win on March 20, 1897.

• Yale has dominated the series in recent years, however, winning the last eight meetings (five of them by double digits) and nine of the last 10 dating back to the 2011-12 season.

• The Bulldogs rolled to a pair of wins over the Quakers last year en route to the Ivy League title, beating Penn 81-58 in New Haven and following up with a 79-58 victory here at The Palestra.

• As Penn is celebrating the 90th anniversary of The Palestra this season, it seems appropriate to note that the Quakers' first game in "the Cathedral" came against Yale on January 1, 1927. Penn won that contest, 26-15.

GAME 14 – PENN vs. BROWN (9-7, 0-0)
Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 * 8 p.m.
The Palestra (Philadelphia)

The Series with Brown
• The Quakers have dominated this series, and hold a 104-26 lead over the Bears.

• That said, Brown had won five in a row before Penn ended the run with a 79-74 victory here at The Palestra in last year's second meeting. (Brown had won the first, 89-83.)

• Saturday's game represents a homecoming of sorts for Brown head coach Mike Martin, who was an assistant coach for the Quakers from 2007-12.

Penn by the Numbers
0 • Games lost by Penn when leading at the half under head coach Steve Donahue; the Quakers are 5-0 in such games this year, 11-0 in the two seasons.

3 • Starts made by freshman Ryan Betley, who made his debut December 28 against Drexel after missing Penn's first nine games due to injury; last Saturday at Princeton he scored a career-high 11 points, all in the second half.

6 • Players who have led Penn in scoring in a game so far this season: AJ Brodeur, Darnell Foreman, Matt Howard, Jackson Donahue, Caleb Wood, and Sam Jones.

9 • Consecutive double-figure scoring games for Brodeur before he was held to six points (tying a season/career low) at Princeton.

12 • Penn players on the current roster who have had at least one double-figure scoring game during their career, including eight this season already.

77.8 • Difference in Penn's three-point FG percentage from first half (0-of-7) to second half (7-of-9) at Princeton.

78.8 • The percentage of points from a year ago that return to Penn's lineup. The returning players totaled 1,506 of the team's 1,911 points last season.

Quakers Notemeal From Princeton
• Penn made up a 21-point second-half deficit (39-18) to tie the game at 44-44, but ultimately lost by nine.

• Penn had just four assists, a team low in the year-plus Steve Donahue coaching era. (Princeton, meanwhile, had just five assists, tying an opponent low in the Donahue era.)

• Penn also tied a Donahue-era low by making just 17 field goals.

• Junior Darnell Foreman had a career-high 17 points off the bench, and finished one rebound shy of his career best with seven.

• Freshman Ryan Betley had his first collegiate double-figure scoring game, with all 11 of his points coming in the second half.

• Freshman AJ Brodeur had just six points, snapping a nine-game streak of double-figure scoring games.
