NEW YORK CITY - Playing in the season finale, the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team defeated No. 34 Columbia, 4-3. The win is the Quakers best in the ITA rankings and is their fifth over teams in the top 75 this season.

Penn jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point on Sunday. Luba Vazhenina and Lina Qostal worked a 6-4 win, allowing Kana Daniel and Sonya Latycheva to pick up their 14 doubles win of the season and clinch the point.

In singles witht he Quakers down 2-1, Vazhenina tied the match with a two set win, needing a tie breaker in the second set. The junior won her sets 6-4 and 7-6 (6).

Closing out her collegiate career, Sonya Latycheva won in three sets, dominating the final one. Latycheva won the first set 6-4, lost the second 6-3, but cruised to a 6-1 win in the decisive third.

Clinching the win for Penn was freshman Marta Kowalska. Kowalska won the first, lost a tie-breaker in the second, and then ran away with 6-2 win in the final to close out a 4-3 win for the Red and Blue.
