PHILADELPHIA – Alumni Day was special for the University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team as the No. 17 Quakers edged Harvard, 8-7, at Franklin Field.

With generations of former Quakers looking on, Penn extended its winning streak over the Crimson to 18 games as the Red and Blue held off a late Harvard rally to improve their record to 9-3 this season and 3-1 inside the Ivy League.

Alex Condon had three goals for the Quakers – each coming in the second half as she notched her fifth hat trick of the season. She now has 22 goals this season, and has scored 10 in her last three games.

Penn pulled away midway through the first half, scoring four goals in 3:48 to take a 5-2 lead. Four different players – Lely DeSimone, Emily Rogers-Healion, Sarah Barcia, and Catherine Dickinson had goals in the run as the Quakers erased Harvard's only lead of the day.

The Quakers trailed for just 51 seconds in the game, DeSimone countering Harvard's second goal of the game to knot proceedings at 2-2 with 14:35 to play in the opening half. Rogers-Healion would score under a minute later, and Barcia followed 1:05 later before Dickinson capped the run with her 15th goal of the season.

Condon had all three of Penn's goals in the second half, giving Penn a two-goal lead each time.

The Red and Blue needed all three of her goals as Marisa Romeo connected on a free position with 0:33 left in the game to close the gap to one. Harvard won the ensuing draw, but turned the ball over with 0:09 on the clock and Penn would run out the remainder of the game.

Britt Brown returned after missing two games with an injury and made seven saves to earn her seventh win of the season. She added three ground balls and a caused turnover.

Penn had the advantage in draws, 11-6, led by Caroline Cummings who won four. Brooke Kiley and Emilia Lopez-Ona each added two.

Megan Kelly was a force on defense, causing two turnovers and adding four ground balls.

Nina Corcoran had two assists in the game to increase her Ivy League-leading total to 37. She is now two away from tying Penn's all-time record.

The Quakers will head 45 minutes north to Princeton on April 20, taking on No. 11 Princeton in a battle for first place. The Tigers are also 9-3 this season, and are 4-0 in the Ivy League. First draw with the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. on the Ivy League Digital Network and ESPN3.
