PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team (3-3, 0-1 Big 5) returns home to the friendly confines of The Palestra on Wednesday for a Big 5 showdown with city-rival La Salle (4-4, 0-1 Big 5) in what will be a double-header with the men's basketball team. Following Wednesday's matchup, the Quakers will hit the road again to face Richmond on Saturday in Virginia. Wednesday's contest is set for 5:30 p.m. while the Spiders and Quakers will square off at 2 p.m. Saturday in Richmond.
In the Series vs. La Salle: 44th Meeting
Wednesday's contest marks the 44th meeting between the Quakers and Explorers with La Salle holding the upper hand in the all-time series at 33-10. Penn has won five out of the last six meetings including four-straight, capped by a 78-68 win at La Salle last season. Â
In the Series vs. Richmond: 8th Meeting
Saturday's contest against the Spiders marks just the eighth meeting between the two schools after the rivalry was reignited following a 10-year hiatus last season. The Quakers posted a 49-47 win at The Palestra on Jan. 14 last year.

- The University of Pennsylvania tallied their second consecutive win with a dominant 63-39 victory over Wagner on Saturday afternoon in Staten Island, N.Y. Sydney Stipanovich and Michelle Nwokedi both registered double-doubles to lead the Red and Blue while Nwokedi dialed in for 17 points and 10 rebounds. Stipanovich added 10 points, 10 boards and four assists as both registered their fourth double-doubles of the seasons.
Penn held the Seahawks without a point for a total of 9:35 to span the first and second quarters as the Red and Blue pulled ahead by 19 off an 18-0 run in the first 20 minutes of action.

The Quakers will have a 21-day layoff following Saturday's contest at Richmond due to Ivy League rules regarding games not being played during reading days or finals at the end of the semester. The Red and Blue return to action on Dec. 31 when they take on Cal State Northridge in sunny southern California.
