Men's Soccer Blanked by #23 Temple

PHILADELPHIA --The University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team had no answer for Jorge Gomez Sanchez on Sunday night as the forward for No. 23 Temple scored three times in a 3-0 defeat for the Quakers at Rhodes Field.

Gomez Sanchez elevated his season goal total to 10 for the Owls (6-0-1), scoring his three goals in 25:15 of game play over the middle portion of the match. His first strike came in the 32nd minute, followed by a pair of insurance goals in the 49th and 57th minutes.

Penn was outshot, 16-3, in the match and was unable to send a shot on target to goal. Senior Nick Savino made four saves for Penn in his first career start.

The Quakers (0-4-1) were playing just their second home match of the season. In their other home contest, Penn also hosted a ranked opponent -- No. 7 Washington -- and played the Huskies to a 0-0 draw. Penn makes it three ranked opponents in three home appearances at Rhodes Field on Wednesday when the Quakers host No. 13 Penn State at 7 p.m.
