CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard's Richard Smith tipped in a cross from Tim Linden at the 67:26 mark, and though Penn fought valiantly all day the Quakers fell to the 11th-ranked Crimson, 1-0, Sunday at Ohiri Field.

With the victory, Harvard (13-3-1, 5-1-1 Ivy) clinched the Ivy League title and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA College Cup. Penn finished the season at 6-8-3 overall, 2-4-1 in Ivy play.

Penn was outshot 5-1 in the first half, but came out strong in an action-packed second half that saw Harvard with just an 11-10 edge in shots. The Quakers had an excellent chance in the 57th minute when a header from point-black range was saved by Crimson Austin Harms. In addition, Michael Kozak had a shot that went off the crossbar, putting the hearts of Harvard's fans in their throats.

Garon Smith had four saves in goal for Penn.
