Women's Basketball Topped by Harvard, 87-74

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Penn women's basketball team hung with the Ivy League leader, Harvard, but dropped an 87-74 decision in Cambridge, Mass. Saturday night. The Quakers fell to 8-12 on the season and 3-4 in Ivy League action while the Crimson improved to 8-12 and 6-1 in the League.

Sophomore Kelly Scott led the Quakers with 18 points while senior guard Joey Rhoads had 16 points thanks to four three-pointers. The number tied her season high for treys. Monica Naltner was Penn's third double-digit scorer with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Harvard extended its lead to 10 points twice in the first half but Penn battled back each time to finish the period down six and momentum from Rhoads' shot from behind the arc before heading to the locker rooms.

In the second, Crimson sophomore Niki Finelli only shotfrom long distanceand made 6-of-7. She tacked on4-of-4 free throws to finish the game with 26 points, a career high. Her shooting along with a team 56-percent shooting helped Harvard stay just out of Penn's reach.

Penn shot 42.6-percent from the field in the game.

The Quakers are on the road next weekend, Feb. 16-17 at Columbia and Cornell. The tip is set for 7 p.m. both nights.
